Wedding Alcohol
For all of us, a wedding is one of the most beautiful and happiest days of our lives. Every bride and groom wants their wedding to be perfect in every way. Beautiful decorations, delicious food and, of course, quality alcohol are essential parts of a memorable wedding celebration.
But deciding which alcohol to serve is only part of the challenge. How much alcohol should you buy? That's a question almost every couple struggles with until the very last moment. To make wedding planning easier, we've prepared some simple answers and practical recommendations!
What Alcohol Should You Choose?

If you've shopped with us before, you already know that we offer an extensive selection of high-quality alcoholic beverages at affordable prices.
Wine
There's no doubt that wine is an essential part of almost every wedding. Nobody wants to serve poor-quality wine that their guests won't enjoy. That's why we recommend internationally renowned brands such as Piccini, Château du Tariquet, Le Contesse and La Buse dal Lôf. You'll certainly have some guests who prefer sweeter wines, too. For them, we recommend the Slovak winery Ostrožovič.
In most cases, a good starting point is a wine selection consisting of 50% white wine, 25% red wine and 25% rosé wine. There's no need to make things overly complicated. Simply choose one type of wine from each category. Of course, the ideal selection depends on your guests' preferences and, most importantly, the newlyweds themselves.
Spirits
Choosing spirits is often the most difficult part of planning wedding drinks. There are so many different types that the selection can feel overwhelming, especially if you're not particularly familiar with alcohol. That's why we've prepared a few recommendations for each category to help you save money without compromising on quality. As a general guideline, we recommend a ratio of 80% clear spirits to 20% dark spirits.
■ Fruit Spirits and Distillates: A genuine, high-quality fruit spirit is an important part of many traditional wedding celebrations! These clear spirits are typically produced by distilling fermented fruit or other suitable ingredients. They're often served as a welcome toast when guests enter the reception hall or during traditional wedding games and customs. Many families have their own homemade fruit spirits, which can be an excellent choice. If that's not an option, we recommend Bošácka and Old Herold. For something more exclusive, consider Marsen, BVD, Domovina or Baron Hildprandt. Be careful when choosing, as there is a difference between a genuine fruit distillate and a flavoured spirit.
■ Rum: Rum is a versatile choice that's likely to please a wide range of guests. Avoid cheap imitations that may leave a disappointing impression. Instead, choose quality brands that offer excellent value for money, such as Chairman’s Reserve. For more discerning guests and dedicated rum lovers, we recommend Carúpano, Davidsen's, Matusalem, Black Tears, Dos Maderas and Rana.
■ Vodka: Not all vodkas are created equal! Instead of ordinary options, why not try something new, high-quality and delicious? We recommend brands such as Exclusive and Nemiroff. If you're looking for something special, consider Pravda, Koskenkorva or Mamont.
■ Whisky: Although whisky isn't traditionally served at every wedding, it has become an increasingly popular choice, particularly among male guests. If you want to impress and surprise your guests, whisky is an excellent option. We recommend High Commissioner, Loch Lomond, Bunnahabhain or The Whistler.
■ Gin: Gin is a fantastic alternative to traditional Slovak juniper spirits and can appeal to a wide range of guests. Flavoured or pink gin is particularly popular with those who enjoy smoother, slightly sweeter drinks. We recommend Puerto de Indias. For guests with more refined tastes, Sir Edmond is an excellent choice. Of course, a quality gin deserves a premium tonic, such as Thomas Henry, allowing you to easily prepare the ever-popular Gin & Tonic.
