Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich is one of three William Grant-owned distilleries located in relative proximity to the north of Dufftown, the spiritual heart of Speyside. It was founded in 1886 by William Grant of Mortlach and is currently one of three distilleries that fill whiskey into bottles on site and has boilers with a total annual capacity of 10 million liters. In addition, Glenfiddich matures its single-species whiskey in its forty-three warehouses with a capacity of 800,000 barrels. Malt is bought and part of it consists of malt that was malted in the neighboring Balvenie distillery.

Glenfiddich was the first distillery with a visitor center to visit 125,000 visitors a year, and in 2005 it underwent a £ 1.7 million refurbishment. Glenfiddich is known around the world and is the best-selling single-species whiskey not only in the UK, but worldwide. After the end of World War II and the resulting increase in demand for whiskey, Glenfiddich was a relatively small brand and faced stiff competition from mixed Scottish brands, which held a real monopoly in the market.

Instead of being a direct competitor, Glenfiddich focused on the sale of single-species whiskey, and in 1963 it became the first Scottish whiskey to be sold as such and proudly showed it to critics. The risk paid off and 16 new boilers were installed in eleven years to meet demand. The range is large and includes conclusions from several barrels, as well as the 1937 vintage introduced in 2002, of which only 61 are bottles and each was sold for a suggested retail price of £ 10,000.
