Non-alcoholic beer

Non-alcoholic beer is a beverage that resembles classic beer in taste, appearance, and production method, but contains only a minimal amount of alcohol - usually less than 0,5 % by volume. In some countries, beer with an alcohol content of up to 0,0 % is considered non-alcoholic, while in others, only this low limit is permitted. It is intended for people who want to enjoy the refreshing taste of beer without the effects of alcohol, whether for health, sporting, religious or lifestyle reasons.

The production of non-alcoholic beer is very similar to that of classic beer. The basic ingredients are malt, hops, water, and yeast. Fermentation occurs naturally, but the alcohol is then either removed (most often by vacuum distillation, reverse osmosis, or other gentle technologies) or controlled during the process so that no alcohol is produced in significant quantities. The aim is to preserve the typical taste, aroma and character of beer, even though it is alcohol-free.

Non-alcoholic beer is now produced in a variety of styles, from light lagers and wheat beers to IPAs and flavored varieties with fruit or herbs. Modern technologies and growing demand for healthier alternatives mean that today's "non-alcoholic" beers often surprise with their fullness, freshness, and character, which is close to that of classic beers. Another advantage is their lower calorie content and the fact that they can be consumed practically anytime – even during the workday, while driving, or during sports activities.
