Frizzante is a lightly sparkling wine characterized by its gentle effervescence and fresh character. It originates from Italy, where it refers to wine with lower carbon dioxide pressure than classic sparkling wines of the spumante type. Thanks to its finer bubbles, frizzante feels lighter, fresher, and is ideal for informal gatherings or summer refreshment.

How Frizzante is Made

Frizzante is most commonly produced using the Charmat method, which involves fermentation in large stainless steel tanks under pressure, allowing the wine to retain its fruity freshness. Some frizzante is also created by adding CO₂ during bottling.

Different Styles of Frizzante

Frizzante doesn't have to be just Italian prosecco – lightly sparkling wines are also produced in Slovakia and other countries:

Prosecco Frizzante – an Italian classic made from the Glera grape.
Fruit Frizzante Wines – e.g., currant or blueberry with gentle effervescence.

How to Enjoy Frizzante
