Fruit wines have been gaining popularity in recent years. They are made by fermenting juice from various types of fruit and offer a colourful palette of flavours – from fresh and tangy notes to sweeter, fuller, and more aromatic variations. Compared to grape wine, they usually have a slightly lower alcohol content, averaging around 11%.

Types of Fruit Wine

Redcurrant wine – fresh, tangy, and highly aromatic.
Blueberry wine – richer, with fruity flavour and a touch of sweetness.

Other fruits used in production include cherries, sour cherries, gooseberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, chokeberries, rosehips, and even elderflower or dandelion blossoms. Each fruit wine has its own distinctive character.

When to Choose Fruit Wine

Fruit wines are a great way to add variety to everyday drinking and make for an original gift. They are excellent as an aperitif, with light desserts, or during a relaxed evening with friends. In summer, they are best served well chilled to highlight their freshness and fruity taste.
