Tequila Blanco Page 1 of 2

Tequila Blanco, also known as white or silver tequila, is the purest form of this iconic Mexican spirit. It is either unaged or aged for a very short time, usually less than two months, allowing it to retain the fresh, straightforward flavor of blue agave.

Character and Flavor

Tequila Blanco is vibrant, intense, and authentic. The flavor features notes of fresh agave, citrus, white pepper, and subtle herbs. Unlike aged styles such as Tequila Reposado or Tequila Añejo, it comes across as direct, fresh, and energetic.

True tequila 100% agave

When choosing, look for the label 100% agave – it guarantees that it is a pure distillate from blue agave without added sugars or alcohol. Such tequila is traditionally made in Mexico, particularly in the Jalisco region, and is a symbol of honest craftsmanship and authentic flavor.

Use in cocktails and for sipping

Blanco tequilas are ideal for making cocktails like Margarita, Paloma, or Tequila Sunrise. They can also be enjoyed neat. Best served over ice, in a small caballito glass, where their fresh aroma shines. In Europe, it is typically consumed with salt and lemon, where the salt is licked from the hand, the neat tequila is sipped, and then a bite of lemon is taken.

Part of the tequila family

Tequila Blanco is one of the fundamental types of tequila alongside styles like tequila Reposado, tequila Añejo, and tequila Extra Añejo. If you want to explore all types, visit the main category tequila.
