The Spanish heritage of Dos Maderas

The Dos Maderas brand belongs to the Spanish group Williams & Humbert, founded in 1877 in Jerez, Andalusia. It is one of the largest and most traditional wine and spirits producers in Spain, best known for its sherry production. The union of the rum and sherry worlds gave birth to the unique identity of Dos Maderas.

Double ageing – a bridge between the Caribbean and Andalusia

The rum itself is crafted in the Caribbean, specifically in Barbados and Guyana, where it spends its first five years ageing in classic oak barrels. It is then shipped to Spain, where under the supervision of Williams & Humbert, it undergoes a second maturation in sherry casks. This process, known as double ageing, defines the distinctive character of Dos Maderas.

Two worlds, one style

The Caribbean: the first stage – five years of tropical ageing in oak casks, which brings sweetness and notes of vanilla and caramel.
Jerez, Andalusia: the second stage – further ageing in sherry casks previously used for Dos Cortados (Oloroso) and Don Guido (Pedro Ximénez). These casks lend the rum depth, wine-like nuances, and the sweetness of dried figs, dates, and nuts.

This dual process is uncommon – most rums age only in the Caribbean, while Dos Maderas draws on the long-standing sherry-making tradition, merging two worlds of craftsmanship into a single refined expression.

Dos Maderas rums

Dos Maderas 5+3 – aged 5 years in the Caribbean + 3 years in Oloroso sherry casks. Smooth and balanced, with notes of vanilla, almonds, and oak.
Dos Maderas 5+5 PX – aged 5 years in the Caribbean + 5 years in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Sweeter and more complex, with aromas of dried fruit, caramel, and raisins.
Dos Maderas Luxus – an exclusive edition aged for 10 years and finished in PX sherry casks, creating an exceptionally smooth and luxurious rum.

A bridge between rum and sherry

Dos Maderas rums are known for their smoothness and rich flavour profile. You’ll find notes of caramel, molasses, honey, vanilla, dried fruit, and subtle sherry undertones. Their body is full, velvety, and long-lasting on the palate.

Dos Maderas is one of the few rums that uses sherry casks from the solera system – the traditional ageing method of Jerez. The rum is made in two countries – Barbados (lighter, fruitier style) and Guyana (heavier, molasses-based) – and their blend forms the foundation that is later refined in Spain.

Thanks to its double ageing process, Dos Maderas is often called a “bridge between rum and sherry.” It unites Caribbean warmth and Spanish tradition in every glass – rich, elegant, and crafted for those who seek depth, character, and a story in every sip.
