Tradition of Hospitality from the High Tatras

If you visit Slovakia, specifically the High Tatras and traditional mountain huts, you will often be welcomed with a glass of hot herbal tea with a splash of alcohol. This drink was not just a means of warming up, but has become a symbol of local hospitality, customs, and life in the mountains. From this tradition, TATRATEA herbal tea was born – a modern interpretation of the original recipe that brings an authentic taste experience in the form of a quality herbal liqueur available worldwide.

From Mountain Recipe to Global Brand

The real story of the brand began in 2003 when producers decided to transform the traditional Tatra herbal tea into a stable and consistent product. After about a year of development, Karloff – Tatra Distillery launched TATRATEA 52 % Original to the market at the beginning of 2004. This iconic version quickly gained popularity thanks to its harmonious combination of black tea, herbs, fruity notes, gentle sweetness, and pronounced alcoholic strength.

A Wide Portfolio of Flavors and Intensity

The success of the original gradually expanded the portfolio with additional flavor variants and editions. Popular options include Outlaw Tea, the fruity version Forest Fruit, and limited folklore editions. The individual variants differ in alcohol content and flavor profile – from milder and sweeter to distinctly strong and spicy.

TATRATEA is ideal as a digestif after a meal, a base for mixed drinks, or as a stylish gift with Slovak character. Thanks to its iconic colorful bottles and authentic origin, it has become not only a symbol of the Tatra region but also a modern Slovak alcohol with international success – particularly popular in Germany and Poland.
