Zacapa

Zacapa is a prestigious rum brand from Guatemala, known for its exceptional quality and unique production process. The brand was founded in 1976 on the occasion of the centenary of the city of Zacapa in Guatemala. The rum is produced in the Quetzaltenango region, which has an ideal climate for rum maturation at an altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level.

The uniqueness of Zacapa lies in a special production method that involves the use of virgin sugar syrup instead of molasses, which contributes to its richer and smoother taste. The fermentation process uses yeast obtained from pineapples, which bring incredible aromas and flavors. 

Behind the delicious taste of Zacapa is Lorena Vásquez, one of the few female blending masters in the world of spirits. Lorena has been Zacapa's master blender for over 35 years and is one of the few female leaders in a traditionally male-dominated industry. She was also listed among the 25 most influential women by PEOPLE en Español magazine in 2015.

The Zacapa brand supports the Guatemalan community by employing more than 700 women weavers who produce the decorative petate ribbons that decorate Zacapa bottles.
