Zacapa – a legend from the heights of Guatemala

Zacapa is a legend among rums from Guatemala. Its story began in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the city of Zacapa, and since then it has become one of the most recognized rum brands in the world. It is produced in the Quetzaltenango region – at an altitude of 2300 meters, where the cool mountain air slows down the aging process and gives the rum exceptional smoothness and harmony.

Patience, altitude, and virgin sugarcane

The foundation of Zacapa rums is virgin sugar syrup, not molasses, which gives them a fuller and softer character. Yeasts derived from pineapples bring delicate fruity notes that develop in depth during aging. The rum matures using the traditional solera system – in barrels that previously held bourbon, sherry, and Pedro Ximénez wine. The result is a multi-layered flavor with aromas of cocoa beans, dried fruits, honey, and caramel.

The brand also supports local communities – more than 700 women handcraft decorative petate bands that adorn the bottles and have become a symbol of authenticity and the artisanal spirit of Zacapa.
