Jack Daniel's

Of all the whiskeys in the United States, Jack Daniel's has become a cult. There is a huge market with Jack Daniel's monuments and Old Time no.7 occurs regularly in every bar in the world.

The exact date of Jasper Newton's birth of 'Jack' Daniel is not known because his birth records were destroyed during a courthouse fire. Various sources state that the year was 1846, but the distillery claims that it was September 1850. The year the foundation of the distillery is also not clear, but it was between 1860 and 1880 in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Jack had Welsh and Scottish blood and was one of thirteen children. Jack's nephew Lem Motlow also worked for him. Lem was proficient in mathematics and led the company in accounting.

One early morning, Jack Daniel was trying to open his safe. It is said that he often forgot the combination and kicked it in a fit of anger. His zeal drove him to suffer an infection in one of his fingers, which eventually led to blood poisoning. In 1907, Lem took over the distillery, due to Jack's deteriorating health. Jack died in 1911. Alcohol was banned in the twentieth century. It was banned in Tennessee in 1910, and Lem Motlow moved the distillery to St. Louis, and later to Missouri, Birmingham and Alabama. But in the end he did not escape the ban.

Lem became a Tennessee senator and helped lift the ban on the sale of alcohol and resume production in 1938. During World War II, distillation stopped nationwide between 1942 and 1946. There was a shortage of quality grain and Lem resumed production only in 1947, when he found good source. It is worth noting that Jack Daniel's whiskey is not bourbon despite the same properties and also production methods. However, there is one fundamental difference. The whiskey is filtered through maple sugar and charcoal before maturing. This process is crucial to the final character of the whiskey, filled like Tennessee Whiskey.
