Glenfiddich 16 Year Old Aston Martin is a limited edition single malt whisky, created in collaboration between the Scottish distillery Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One team. It combines traditional craftsmanship with modern design, delivering an elegant experience that appeals to connoisseurs and collectors alike.
The whisky is made exclusively from malted barley, water from the Robbie Dhu spring, and is distilled in traditional copper pot stills typical of Glenfiddich. After distillation, it ages for 16 years in carefully selected casks – in American oak casks previously used for wine, new American casks, and second-fill bourbon casks. This aging process imparts rich complexity, balanced sweetness, and a subtly spicy character to the final distillate.
The aroma opens with sweet notes of maple syrup and caramelized ginger, transitioning into delicate biscuit and creamy accents, complemented by a touch of toasted oak.
On the palate, it is delicious, syrupy full, with a pronounced confectionery sweetness, creaminess reminiscent of whipped cream and a fruity hint in the form of a mixed fruit salad. The finish is smooth, balanced, and pleasantly sweet, leaving an elegant and long-lasting aftertaste.
It is best enjoyed neat, or with a few drops of water, which will open up its delicate layers. It is the perfect companion for slow sipping after dinner and pairs beautifully with desserts like crème brûlée, vanilla ice cream, or baked apples.
The bottle features the names of the current Aston Martin drivers: Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
