The vineyard Tariquet was purchased by Artaud along with his son Jean in 1912. When World War I began in 1914, the winery remained abandoned until 1940. After Jean returned with his wife and children Maïté, Christiane, Françoise, and Yves to Tariquet in 1939, they began to restore the winery, which lasted until 1972 when Maïté, Christiane, Françoise, Yves, along with their father Jean, founded the first company to sell Bas-Armagnac brandy. Since then, their technique has improved and the brandy Tariquet has enhanced.

Since 1982, the company has also started producing very high-quality white wines. Today, the company is managed by Yves's sons, Armin and Rémy. The vineyard Château du Tariquet has become one of the largest sellers of brandy in France.

However, the success of the vineyard was not only due to determination, but it was most influenced by its origin. The Château du Tariquet vineyard lies in the historic territory of former Gascogna. It is a southwestern region of France known for its sandy, acidic, and despite the high iron content, nutrient-poor soil.

A rarity of the brand is the production of Armagnac from the grape variety Plant de Graisse. No other producer cultivates this variety. However, at Château du Tariquet, they have found a way to work effectively with this oily and not very aromatic grape variety.
