Gordon & Macphail Discovery Tomatin Bourbon 2011
Add a tasting glass and elevate your experience to the next level!
This edition of whisky comes from the distillery Tomatin, one of the finest and fruitiest Highland distilleries. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail has included it in the Discovery series, created to clearly showcase the three basic styles of whisky: Sherry, Bourbon, and Smoky.
This particular expression belongs to the Bourbon Style, which means a clean, fresh, and vanilla-fruity character.
The whisky was distilled in 2011 and matured in ex-bourbon casks, which enhanced its natural fruitiness, sweet malty base, and gentle spicy profile. Bottled at 43% ABV, in natural color and with the maximum smoothness typical of Tomatin.
The nose reveals notes of green apple, pear, citrus peel, sweet vanilla cream, honey, and delicate buttery caramel. The background is complemented by a light oak sweetness and a touch of coconut flakes.
The palate is smooth, fresh, and creamy – vanilla, sweet barley, white grape, lime juice, gentle spice, buttery biscuit, and light oak notes. The medium-full texture is typical of bourbon maturation and highlights the natural elegance of the distillate.
The finish is medium-long, gentle, and clean, with traces of citrus, sweet oak, vanilla, and honey.
This expression is ideal for lovers of fine, clean Highland whisky, as well as an entry model into the world of Tomatin for those who prefer a fruity-vanilla bourbon profile.
