Gordon & Macphail Discovery Tomatin Bourbon 2011
This whisky edition comes from the Tomatin distillery, one of the smoothest and most fruit-forward Highland distilleries. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail included it in the Discovery range, designed to clearly present three fundamental whisky styles: Sherry, Bourbon and Smoky.
This particular expression belongs to the Bourbon Style, meaning a clean, fresh and vanilla-fruity character.
The whisky was distilled in 2011 and matured in ex-bourbon casks, which enhanced its natural fruitiness, sweet malty backbone and gentle spice profile. Bottled at 43 % ABV, in natural colour, it showcases the signature softness typical of Tomatin.
On the nose, it offers notes of green apple, pear, citrus peel, sweet vanilla cream, honey and light butter caramel. The background is complemented by soft oak sweetness and a hint of coconut flakes.
The palate is smooth, fresh and creamy – vanilla, sweet barley, white grapes, lime juice, subtle spice, butter biscuit and delicate oak tones. Its medium body is typical of bourbon maturation and highlights the natural elegance of the spirit.
The finish is medium-long, gentle and clean, with traces of citrus, sweet oak, vanilla and honey.
This expression is ideal for fans of soft, clean Highland whiskies, as well as an excellent introduction to Tomatin for those who enjoy a fruity and vanilla-forward bourbon profile.
