Gordon & Macphail Aultmore Connoisseurs Choice 2009
This edition comes from the Aultmore distillery, renowned for its exceptionally clean, light, and naturally sweet Speyside profile. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail selected the 2009 vintage, which after years of careful maturation beautifully showcases the spirit’s character – fresh, elegant, and harmoniously layered.
The whisky matured in carefully chosen ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which added gentle depth, sweet oak, and clean fruitiness without overshadowing the original nature of the spirit.
On the nose, dominant notes include fresh pear, white grapes, vanilla cream, green apple, and delicate honeyed malt. Hints of lemon peel and light spice also appear.
The palate is soft, clean, and creamy – honeyed barley, vanilla, sweet oak, pear compote, a touch of citrus freshness, subtle spice, and creamy sweetness. Gradually, a fine hint of white chocolate and almonds emerges.
The finish is medium-long, smooth, with traces of vanilla, sweet oak, gentle spice, and clean orchard fruit.
This expression appeals to lovers of delicate, elegant, and “pure” Speyside whiskies that focus on natural malt elegance and refreshing sweetness.
