Cardhu Amber Rock
Cardhu Amber Rock matured twice in barrels of burnt American oak, thanks to which it brings richer tones of vanilla and spices. It is elegantly and ingeniously flavored, while still maintaining the balance and pure sweet tones that are typical of all Cardhu whiskeys created by the founders of the distillery, Helen and Elizabeth Cumming.
Color: Intense, transparent amber.
Aroma: Sweet, complex and full of life, with tones of fresh pear and lychee dancing on butter bread. In between, there are balanced citrus tones of sweet mandarin, honeysuckle and fresh ancient lemonade. They are gradually softened to a rich syrupy-fine sweetness with sweet caramels, honey and barley sugar. As the taste develops further into apples and pears in syrup, spiced with cloves, and later into deeper creamy white chocolate with almonds, we also find tones of fragrant vanilla and toasted marshmallows.
Taste: Sweet and spicy at the beginning. Like fresh fruit with pears and sweet apples in lemon juice topped with a drop of fresh burnt oak cream. Then comes a drier sharpness balanced by mandarins followed by a soft, velvety fruit syrup that appears in the mild center and is never far from the underlying intensity of grass and burnt oak until the marsamallow velvet candies, creamy milk chocolate and vanilla tones finally come to the fore.
Finish: Relatively long, spicy-sweet, creamy and soothing; sparkling hot detonator with velvety, dried cocoa, dark chocolate, burnt oak and, finally, a lingering citrus tone.
