Gordon & Macphail Ardmore Distillery Labels 2008
This edition comes from the Ardmore distillery, one of the few Highland distilleries that traditionally work with peated barley. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail selected the 2008 vintage, which, after long maturation, presents a beautifully balanced profile of gentle peat, sweetness, and fruit.
The whisky matured in carefully chosen casks (G&M typically uses ex-bourbon barrels or first-fill sherry casks for Ardmore 2008), enhancing the spirit’s natural honey-smoke character. The maturation created a clean combination of soft smoke, vanilla, spice, and tropical fruit.
On the nose, it offers notes of subtle peaty smoke, honey, vanilla, grilled pineapple, ripe apples, and a hint of lemon peel. In the background appears sweet oak and a light mineral tone.
The palate is creamy, with a pleasant balance between smoke and sweetness – honeyed barley, caramel, vanilla, citrus, grilled fruit, and gentle hints of white pepper and coastal smoke.
The finish is long and smooth, with lingering peat smoke, honeyed fruit, oak, and velvety spice.
This expression is ideal for those who enjoy lightly peated whisky with a clean, classic Highland character, crafted with the precision of an independent bottler.
