Deanston 12 Year Old is a classic Highland single malt whisky, crafted from unpeated barley and matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks.
The Deanston distillery, located in the historic buildings of a former cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith, proudly maintains traditional methods, producing whisky without chill filtration and without added colouring. It is bottled at 46,3 % ABV, giving it natural body and depth.
On the nose, Deanston 12 opens with notes of fresh hay, cereals, creamy toffee, and heather honey, complemented by hints of vanilla, citrus peel, and green apple.
The palate is creamy, with prominent flavours of vanilla, honey, and sweet malt, balanced by gentle spice, orange zest, and caramelised sugar. The finish is medium in length, with citrus freshness, subtle clove, and elegant woody tones.
Deanston 12 Year Old is whisky best enjoyed neat, though a few drops of water can reveal further layers of aroma and flavour. Thanks to its balance and accessibility, it is suitable not only for whisky connoisseurs but also for those just beginning their journey into the world of single malts.
