Deanston 15 Year Old Tequila Cask

Deanston is known for its distinctive waxy and citrus-driven character, which is remarkably flexible and adaptable. This very quality makes Deanston whisky an ideal candidate for maturation in unconventional casks, such as agave tequila casks.

There are surprisingly many similarities between tequila and single malt Scotch whisky. Both spirits are strictly regulated, crafted by hand, produced in clearly defined regions, and shaped by their place of origin. The combination of Deanston and tequila therefore creates a harmonious yet bold flavour experience – Deanston 15 Year Old Tequila Cask.

The whisky was matured for 13 years in traditional oak casks, followed by a further 2 years of finishing in hand-selected casks that previously held agave tequila from the Jalisco Highlands in Mexico. These casks impart fruity, floral, and gently spicy notes, with a hint of caramelised agave.

Deanston 15 Year Old Tequila Cask is non-chill filtered and free from added colouring. This preserves its natural oils, full flavour, and light golden colour, reflecting the influence of the casks and extended maturation. It is made exclusively with unpeated barley sourced locally from the Scottish Highlands.
