History and origin of the brand

Gordon & MacPhail is an iconic family business from Elgin, Scotland, founded in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail. Originally a traditional wine and grocery store, it soon transformed into a center of whisky expertise. In 1915, the Urquhart family took over the business and gave the brand its current character - an emphasis on craftsmanship, patience, and a deep understanding of single malt whisky.

Philosophy and pillars

Gordon & MacPhail became pioneers in the field of independent bottling. They were among the first to start buying distillate from various distilleries and letting it mature in their own casks, carefully selected according to the style and character of each distillery. Their approach is based on three pillars: selection of the best barrels, long-term maturation (often decades), preservation of the authentic profile of distilleries.

This has earned them a reputation as masters in the art of "shaping the future of whiskey through what they do today."
