Gordon & Macphail Craigellachie Distillery Labels 2007
This edition comes from the Craigellachie distillery, known for its robust, oily and powerful distillation style. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail selected the 2007 vintage and matured it in carefully chosen sherry casks that enhanced its depth, structure and fruity character.
The whisky is bottled at natural cask strength – 64,5 % ABV, non-chill filtered and in natural colour. This high strength preserves all layers of the spirit and its cask influence, resulting in an exceptionally full and authentic experience.
On the nose, it reveals notes of ripe apples, peach syrup, honeyed malt, citrus peel, toasted oak and gentle spice. The typical Craigellachie “meaty” note is present only subtly, harmoniously supported by sweet fruit and vanilla.
The palate is bold, oily and intense – ripe tropical fruit, honeyed apples, caramelised pears, citrus marmalade, ginger, white pepper and oak structure. Later, tones of butterscotch, raisins and a hint of toasted wood smoke appear.
The finish is long, warming and full, with a combination of spice, sweet oak, dried fruit, citrus and the rich oiliness typical of Craigellachie.
This expression is ideal for lovers of powerful Speyside whiskies who appreciate fullness, strength and a complex fruit-and-spice profile.
