This 11-year-old edition comes from the Glenrothes distillery, known for its rich, fruity, and smoothly rounded style. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail has included it in the Discovery series, which playfully and clearly showcases three fundamental flavor directions of whisky – in this case, it is Sherry Style.
The whisky aged for approximately 11 years in carefully selected sherry casks, which imparted depth of sweet oak, dried fruits, and gentle spices. This aging process highlights the natural fruitiness of the Glenrothes distillate while giving it a warm, elegant character.
The aroma is dominated by notes of plums, dried raisins, fig jam, caramel, and delicate honey. There are also hints of cocoa powder and a touch of cinnamon.
On the palate, the whisky is rich, creamy, and sweet – chocolate, dried fruits, caramel pudding, raisins, nuts, gentle spices and a hint of orange peel. The base is smooth, sweet oak.
The finish is medium to long, with notes of sherry sweetness, cocoa, spices, and delicate wood, lingering for a while after sipping.
