Gordon & Macphail Glentauchers Distillery Labels 2008
This edition comes from the Glentauchers distillery, known for its gentle, fruity and exceptionally clean distillation style. Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail selected the 2008 vintage, which, after long maturation, beautifully showcases the classic Speyside character – sweet, fruity and harmoniously balanced.
The whisky matured in carefully selected casks, typically a combination of sherry and bourbon casks (G&M most often uses first-fill sherry hogsheads or refill bourbon for Glentauchers 2008). The maturation enhanced notes of sweet oak, vanilla, honey and ripe orchard fruit.
On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe apples, pears, honeyed malt, vanilla and buttery caramel, accompanied by gentle citrus notes and a hint of spice.
The palate is creamy and fruity – apple pie, pear compote, honey, light chocolate, sweet oak, complemented by nutmeg and honey biscuits. The finish is medium to long, smooth, with lingering notes of vanilla, almonds, sweet spice and fresh orchard fruit.
This expression is ideal for lovers of delicate, elegant Speyside whiskies who appreciate a clean fruity profile and the craftsmanship of independent bottlers.
