Indonesian rum Naga Pearl of Jakarta is a mixture of molasses and yeast fermented red rice , which ferments in teak vats . Distillation takes place in traditional Chinese distillation facilities. The resulting rum is a combination of kettle and column distillation. Rum Pearl of Jakarta matured for 3 years in teak barrels and then for 4 years in American bourbon barrels. The last year of ripening ends in cherry wood barrels , which develops a pleasant taste of honey and Morello cherries.
