Naga Rum is a brand of rum inspired by the mystical Asian protective spirit "Naga" – a symbol of water, fertility, and treasure protection. This strong symbolism is reflected in the brand's identity, which aims to present authentic Asian rum to a Western audience.

The brand was founded in 2012 by rum expert Sébastien Folloppe, who, after years of experience in the rum world, discovered the potential of Asian spirits and decided to create a project highlighting their unique character.

Indonesian Tradition of Batavia Arrack

Current production takes place in northern Java, Indonesia, where distillation has a long history. Naga Rum builds on the tradition of Batavia Arrack – a local style of rum made from molasses using a specific fermentation process.

The fermentation also includes traditional red rice yeast known as "Qu," which gives the distillate a distinctive character and a subtly different aromatic profile. The result is rums without added flavors, emphasizing the natural terroir and authentic expression.

Core Rums of Naga Rum

Among the most well-known is the Naga Siam 10 Year Old, which offers a balanced profile with notes of wood, dried fruit, and gentle spices. An interesting edition is the Naga Pearl of Jakarta, characterized by a smoother expression and elegant aromatics.

Naga Rum represents a fusion of Asian tradition, precise craftsmanship, and an authentic tasting experience that expands the view of the rum world beyond the Caribbean.
