Gordon & Macphail Speyburn 2008
This edition comes from the Speyburn distillery and was bottled by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail as part of the premium Connoisseurs Choice range, which focuses on limited single-cask or small-batch releases in natural cask strength.
Distilled in 2008 and bottled after long maturation, the whisky retains its natural colour, is non-chill filtered, and bottled at an impressive cask strength of 60,2 % ABV, ensuring a concentrated, authentic and uncompromising flavour.
On the nose, it opens with notes of ripe pears, candied citrus, tropical fruit, caramel and gentle vanilla. In the background, a spicy character develops with hints of citrus peel and sweet oak.
The palate is full and intense, delivering honeyed apples, pear compote, creamy caramel, ginger and white pepper, gradually followed by malt notes, citrus marmalade and a soft toasted oak nuance.
The finish is long and warming, combining sweet spice, citrus freshness, vanilla oak and a pleasant fruity aftertaste.
This expression is an excellent choice for fans of Speyside whisky who seek greater intensity and complexity in the form of true cask strength.
