The Speymalt from Macallan series is one of the flagship lines of the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, which has one of the few long-term and stable approaches to the casks of the Macallan distillery.
This edition was distilled in 2006 and after long aging, it was bottled as an exceptionally mature and complex single malt with an emphasis on the iconic sherry profile for which Macallan is globally renowned.
The whisky aged in carefully selected sherry casks (most often first-fill or high-quality refill), which imparted intense fruity, sweet, and spicy notes.
The nose reveals richly layered aromas: dried plums, raisins, orange peel, caramel, dark chocolate, honey, delicate vanilla, and a touch of toasted oak.
The palate is full, velvety, and typically sherry – raisins, chocolate fondant, cinnamon, figs, sweet tobacco, buttery caramel, and delicate dried orange peel. Gradually, notes of charred oak and subtle nutty bitterness emerge.
The finish is long, elegant, and balanced, with notes of dark chocolate, sherry sweetness, dried fruits, nuts, and a gently spicy aftertaste.
This expression is intended for lovers of classic sherry whisky from Speyside – rich, robust, and perfectly representing the combination of Macallan quality and G&M craftsmanship precision.
