Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Sherry Cask
Pronunciation: {Bruchladich}This limited edition Bruichladdich whisky comes from a distillery on the Scottish island of Islay, known for its progressive and transparent approach to whisky. The Classic Laddie Sherry Cask Edition is a variation on the basic unpeated ‘Classic Laddie’ style – a distillate made from 100 % Scottish malted barley, including biodynamic varieties.
The whisky is first matured in the traditional way, then given its final finish in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks sourced from Bodega Fernando de Castilla in Jerez, Spain. The result is an elegant, non-chill filtered single malt with an alcohol content of 50 % ABV.
The nose opens with a rich mix of fruit and sweetness: fig jam, candied orange peel and dried raisins intertwine with the freshness of sea air, roasted almonds and buttery caramel. The taste is full and moderately sweet, with notes of molasses, dried fruit, sweet nuts and subtle spicy tones. The finish is long and complex, with a harmonious balance between seductive sweetness and structure.
This whisky is best enjoyed neat at room temperature or slightly chilled to preserve all the layers of aroma and flavour. Thanks to its mature profile, it is ideal as a digestif after a meal or as a sophisticated social drink.
