Whisky Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 8 Year Old is the pure result of the "farm to bottle" philosophy – it is made exclusively from Concerto and Propino barley, grown on eight farms on Islay, all within an 11-mile radius of the distillery.
It was distilled in 2014 and then matured for approximately 8 years. Maturation took place mainly in bourbon casks (80%), with sherry (5%) and wine casks (15%) added.
The aroma offers a grainy, malty character with notes of apricot, peach and biscuits, complemented by a subtle hint of sea salt and fresh grass. The taste reveals layers of fruit, citrus, delicate aniseed, honey and vanilla, complemented by salty and spicy nuances. The finish is harmonious, with orange freshness and honey-spicy notes.
It is best enjoyed neat at room temperature to fully develop its terroir and fruity-malty character. Just a few drops of water will open up the whisky to further layers of herbs and citrus. It is the ideal choice for lovers of authentic Islay production and also a beautiful gift with a story of origin.
The bottles are filled with 50 % alcohol and have a volume of 0,7 l.
