The Laddie Eight is an 8-year-old whisky from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, developed by Master Distiller - Adam Hannett.
It was created in response to high demand when stocks of older editions were low. The whisky matures in a combination of American (ex-bourbon) and European (ex-sherry) oak casks and is bottled at 50%, without filtration and without added colors.
On the nose, The Laddie Eight is “delicately floral,” with citrus freshness, honey sweetness, a hint of brioche and notes of herbs. The palate reveals citrus, salt, biscuits, and a touch of caramel, with a herbal finish and a medium-long aftertaste. Reviews mention aromas of white grapes, mango, sweet cream, and honey gingerbread.
You can enjoy it neat, at room temperature, to fully appreciate its structure and freshness. Thanks to its gentle complexity, it can also handle a few drops of water, which will reveal additional layers of fruit or minerals. Ideal as a gift.
