Bairnsfather Absinth 1l
Bairnsfather Absinth is a traditional Czech absinthe produced by hand at the Bairnsfather Distillery in Domašov near Jeseník. This authentic herbal liqueur with an alcohol content of 55 % is produced according to a classic 19th-century recipe and preserves the original character of this legendary drink.
It is produced by macerating natural herbs – mainly wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), anise, and fennel, supplemented with other aromatic herbs such as mint, lemon balm, and coriander. Instead of distillation, the plants are macerated for a long time in fine grain alcohol, which gives the drink depth and an intense herbal profile.
The color is bright green, obtained naturally from chlorophyll. The aroma is dominated by notes of wormwood, sweet anise, and fennel, complemented by the delicate freshness of mint and a grassy undertone. The taste is full-bodied, distinctly herbal, with a bitter-sweet balance and a delicate touch of sweet wood.
Bairnsfather Absinthe is best enjoyed in the traditional way – pour 30 ml of absinthe into a glass, place a sugar cube on a special spoon and slowly pour ice-cold water over it in a ratio of 1:3 to 1:5, according to taste. The drink will turn milky (louche effect), revealing the full aroma of the herbs. It can also be served in modern cocktails, for example with tonic or citrus liqueur.
The thujone content is around 8 – 10 mg/kg.
