Planteray Barbados 5 Year Old (formerly Plantation) is a traditional rum from Barbados, widely regarded as the birthplace of rum culture. It is characterized by a clean, well-balanced profile and an elegant style typical of this Caribbean island.
The rum is aged for a minimum of 5 years in the tropical climate of Barbados in American oak barrels. It then undergoes a process known as double ageing, which adds smoothness, complexity and a harmonious structure.
On the nose, notes of vanilla, caramel, tropical fruit and gentle oak emerge. The palate is smooth and slightly sweet, with hints of banana, dried fruit and oak spice. The finish is pleasantly drier and clean.
Planteray Barbados 5 is suitable for enjoying neat, over ice, and also works beautifully in classic rum cocktails such as Daiquiri or a Rum Old Fashioned.
The rum is bottled at 40% ABV in a 0.7 l format. It represents an excellent choice for those seeking an authentic Barbados rum with outstanding value for money.
