This brand, which was once known as Plantation, is part of the portfolio of the French company Maison Ferrand. Planteray combines the rich history of Caribbean rums with an innovative approach that appeals to modern spirits enthusiasts.

The Planteray brand offers a wide range of rums, from smooth and delicious blends to unique vintage editions. Each rum is the result of a careful production process that combines local fermentation and distillation methods with a unique aging process in French oak barrels in the Cognac region. This approach, known as “double aging,” gives Planteray rums their characteristic complexity and harmony of flavors.

The original name of the brand Plantation was derived from the historical term “plantation,” which was closely associated with the cultivation of sugarcane – the main raw material for rum production. Although the name was intended as a reference to artisanal production and tradition, it began to be perceived sensitively due to its associations with the colonial era and slavery.

In 2020 the brand announced that it would reconsider its name to better reflect the values of inclusion and respect. This move was met with positive feedback as a signal of the effort to adapt to current societal expectations. After careful consideration, the brand was renamed Planteray in 2025. The new name retains the reference to the tradition of rum production from sugarcane, while removing the historical connotations that the original name may have evoked.
