Glenglassaugh Torfa
Pronunciation: {Glen-glasó}We have already experienced Revival and Evolution, and the Glenglassaugh distillery now adds a peated drink to its range. Torfa (which means lawn or peat in Old Norse) matured in bourbon casks and is bottled at 20 PPM. We are glad to see Glenglassaugh back in action after being closed for over 20 years, and it even has enough strength to try new things, as this is their first peated single malt Scotch whisky!
Aroma: Smoke and citrus in equal measure with sweet spice comfortably sitting between them.
Taste: Not overly smoky. It definitely has coastal elements, but with fruity notes of melon, apple, and even more citrus, it leans towards a sweeter drink balanced by warming barley.
Finish: Smoke lingers even.
Overall impression: A good introduction to peated whisky for those wanting to taste smoky goodness.
