Liehovar is located on the rugged northern coast of Aberdeenshire, behind the beautiful surfer's paradise Sandend Bay in Scotland. It is a place where land meets sea. Where the senses awaken and the sweet air mingles with a hint of sea salt. Where juicy waves of tropical fruit ride on the ocean breeze. Until they rest in a place of perfect harmony.
The Glenglassaugh distillery was founded in 1874 by local entrepreneur James Moir and 18 years later became part of Highland Distillers. However, its popularity was short-lived, as it was closed in 1907 due to a market downturn and reopened only in 1960 when the market saw significant growth again.
In 2013 the distillery changed ownership again and became the third member of BenRiach Distillery Co. Despite significant gaps in stock, the release of whisky is cleverly balanced between very old bottles and new products.
In 2016 Brown-Forman, the maker of Jack Daniel's, purchased Glenglassaugh along with Benriach and Glendronach. After a complete rebranding, Glenglassaugh returns with a new design and an attractive offering.
At Glenglassaugh they utilize elements of their surroundings and blend them into exceptional coastal single malt whisky. In every expression, you will experience the rolling waves of flavor shaped by land and sea.
