Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2026 brings the full and undiluted form of the characteristic 12-year-old whisky from the northernmost distillery on the Isle of Islay. This edition is bottled at natural cask strength of 55.8% alcohol, without cold filtration and without added coloring.
Unlike most whiskies from the Isle of Islay, Bunnahabhain is primarily known for its non-peated style. This allows the natural fruity and malty character of the distillate to shine through, which is enhanced in this edition by aging in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose opens with stewed berries, cherries, creamy vanilla, and cinnamon, complemented by citrus freshness and toasted oak. The palate is full, oily, and intense. It delivers layers of sherry-soaked fruit, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, nutmeg, and cloves. In the background, a subtle maritime salinity emerges, reminiscent of the distillery's location on the coast of Bunnahabhain Bay.
A long and warming finish combines dried fruit, sweet oak spice, chocolate, and lingering cherry notes. The high alcohol content gives the whisky a pronounced concentration and rich texture, but a few drops of water can soften it and reveal additional fruity, spicy, and malty layers.

RECOMMENDED SERVING
We recommend tasting the whisky neat at room temperature in a tasting glass. Then add a few drops of water and let it rest briefly. Water will reduce the intensity of the alcohol and help develop the fruity, malty, and spicy notes.
It pairs excellently with high-quality dark chocolate, roasted nuts, aged cheeses, dried fruits, or desserts with chocolate and cherries.
