Bunnahabhain 12 is an Islay single malt whisky from the Bunnahabhain distillery, established in 1881 on the northern coast of Islay island, renowned for producing its smooth and elegant whisky. Some bottlings from this distillery are either very lightly peated or completely unpeated. Bunnahabhain 12 is a representation of the very lightly peated whisky (the producer indicates a phenol presence of 3PPM).
The whisky was first launched in 1979 and ages 12 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which gives it a complex yet balanced character. The bourbon casks bring notes of vanilla, orchard fruits, and a gentle sweetness, while the sherry casks add notes of dried fruits, nuts, and spices. Sea salt and a hint of wet oak complement the delicate coastal character of this whisky.
Bunnahabhain 12 is bottled at an alcohol content of 46.3%, without chill filtration or coloring.
