Bunnahabhain 23 Year Old Triple Sherry
Pronunciation: {Bu-na-haven}This exclusive edition of Bunnahabhain 23 Year Old Triple Sherry whisky was released on the occasion of the Fèis Ìle 2024 festival as a limited edition bottle, of which only 4,002 were produced. The distillate dates back to 1999 and underwent a maturation process in several casks: first in ex-bourbon casks, then in 2009 it was transferred to sherry casks: Amontillado, in 2011 to Oloroso and finally in 2016 to Manzanilla.
After completion, the blend was carefully married and bottled by master blender Julieann Fernandez at cask strength of 53,3 % ABV without chill filtration or added coloring.
The nose reveals notes of fresh marzipan, almond pastries, sweet forest fruits, rose petals, creamy fudge, and coconut. Delicate aromas of vanilla, caramel, butter, strawberries, and notes of honeyed cashews, spicy wood, and subtle tobacco unfold.
The taste is rich and balanced, dominated by caramel apple, nougat, exotic fruit, and a sandy, dry finish with hints of pine needles and blackcurrant.
This piece is ideal for slow, meditative enjoyment neat, at room temperature – ideally in an enamel glass with a round bottom or a nosing glass, which allows for a unique capture of its complex character.
If you want to enhance the aromas, you can add just a few drops of water, which will bring out even more subtle smoky and spicy notes. This single malt is an excellent accompaniment to black fruits, mandarin chocolate desserts, or as the highlight of a tasting of collector's editions.
