Bunnahabhain 17 Year Old Moine Triple Cask
Pronunciation: {Bu-na-haven Mó-ne}Bunnahabhain 17 Year Old Moine Triple Cask is a whisky from the Distillery Exclusive series, released to mark the Fèis Ìle festival. It is a truly exceptional edition that brings together creativity, craftsmanship, and the character of Bunnahabhain’s peated Moine distillation.
This whisky was created by combining three peated distillates, each matured in a different type of cask: Oloroso Sherry Finish, Bourbon Matured, and Rum Finish. The result is a complex, layered flavour profile reminiscent of rum and raisin ice cream – a favourite dessert of the distillery’s master blender, Julieann Fernandez.
On the nose, perfumed smoke unfolds alongside notes of violet flowers, grilled pineapple, salted raisins, and fresh vanilla pods. It is a highly aromatic whisky that marries peat with an unexpectedly gentle sweetness.
The palate delivers rolling waves of smoke intertwined with double cream, raisins, crunchy toasted sugar, ripe bananas, and a hint of tropical fruit. The finish is rich and dessert-like, with lingering notes of smoky panna cotta that resonate long on the palate.
