Add a tasting glass and elevate your experience to the next level!
Great single malt whisky from Islay coming from an unnamed distillery. The Ileach Cask Strength always receives good reviews from critics, with this cask strength edition earning an incredible 97 points from Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible. He simply describes it as whisky of the year.
The base for production is malt and peat, giving the whisky smoky notes. It matures in oak barrels. The aroma is characterized by young peat, herbal and oak notes, but also a slight saltiness. The taste is smooth - malty-peaty with hints of spice, fruit, and iodine.
The turbulent waters of the Atlantic Ocean have shaped not only the character of the inhabitants of Islay, but also the character of their famous whisky.
This malt whisky reflects much of the character of the inhabitants of Islay - it is strong yet gentle, warm yet delicate, but matured beyond its years. Robustly peaty, with an unmistakable breath of the coastline, The Ileach is the "true man of Islay."
