Bundle Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2025 + 2026
Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2025 – a 10-year-old whisky aged exclusively in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Kilchoman distillery on Islay. The drink is named after the largest freshwater lake Loch Gorm near the distillery, known for its dark, peat-colored water – the color of the whisky reflects its deep copper-red hue.
Founders Anthony and Robin Wills selected 23 Oloroso sherry casks (20 first-fill and 3 second-fill), in which the whisky aged for at least 10 years (distilled around 2014–2015).
After traditional double distillation, maturation occurs exclusively in these sherry casks from the bodega José Miguel Martín, without the addition of coloring and without chill filtration. The resulting bottling has an ABV of 46 %.
Kilchoman is a distillery where barley is grown, malted, and distilled on-site – since 2005, it has embraced the “grain-to-glass” philosophy. Loch Gorm is their favorite annual limited edition, known for its rich sherry flavor, distinctive smokiness, and zesty citrus refreshment – each annual batch varies slightly, yet always maintains the brand's identity.
Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2026 is an annual limited edition of Scottish Single Malt whisky from the Isle of Islay, named after the dark, peaty lake located near the distillery. This 2026 version offers at least 10 years of maturation exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks, which impart a distinctive depth and complexity to the whisky.
The casks come from the Spanish region of Jerez from a renowned producer and are a combination of first fill and a smaller proportion of refill casks. This ratio ensures a balance between intensity and elegance – first fill casks bring rich flavors and tannic structure, while refill casks soften the overall profile.
The palate reveals layers of bitter chocolate, dried fruit, and sweet spices, complemented by the typical notes of peaty Islay whisky. There are also nuances of orange peel, nutmeg, and a subtly smoky character reminiscent of roasted meat.
This edition showcases how sherry maturation can enhance the character of Kilchoman's distillate without overpowering it. The result is a balanced whisky that will appeal to Scotch whisky lovers seeking a combination of smoke, sweetness, and spice. Unchillfiltered, with no added colors.
