Loch Lomond Peated Rioja Cask

Loch Lomond Peated Rioja Cask Finish is distilled in the distillery’s unique Straight Neck and Swan Neck stills, allowing precise control over the character of the spirit. The result is a balanced foundation combining fruitiness with gentle peat smoke.

After primary maturation, the whisky is finished for 6 months in Spanish Rioja red wine casks. This process imparts pronounced red fruit notes, subtle wine sweetness, and a spicy depth that elegantly complements the smoky profile.

On the nose, it reveals a combination of smoke, forest berries, vanilla, and oak spice. The palate is harmonious, bringing together peat smoke, dark cherries, dried fruit, and a light tannic structure from the wine casks. The finish is medium-long, slightly dry, and gently spiced.

This edition is part of the new Original Series and is positioned alongside The Original Triple Oak. Bottled at 40 % ABV, it delivers an approachable yet complex tasting experience for fans of both smoky and fruit-forward whisky styles.

Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to enhance the fruity notes from the wine casks.
