Glencadam Bordeaux Merlot Wine Cask Finish is an elegant single malt whisky from the traditional Scottish distillery Glencadam in the East Highlands region. This edition is produced in small batches under the supervision of the Master Distiller, with a base of distillate maturing in American oak bourbon casks.
It is then finished in carefully selected casks that previously held Merlot wine from the prestigious French Bordeaux region. This process imparts a subtly fruity, fresh, and balanced character with hints of red fruit and spice.
The aroma features sweet notes of wild strawberries, fruit candies, and blackberry jam, complemented by woody accents of cedar and gingerbread spice. The taste is fresh and slightly tart, with layers of stewed fruit and rhubarb pie, enhanced by notes of cocoa, roasted chestnuts, and oak spice.
The finish is medium to long, with hints of chocolate cherries, liqueur, espresso, and delicate cake spice.
The whisky is unchillfiltered and free from added coloring, preserving its natural character. Bottled at 46% alcohol, it offers a balanced and approachable yet complex flavor profile.
