Naga Malacca is an exotic spiced rum from Indonesia, inspired by the historic port of Malacca. It has an amber colour and offers a rich tropical profile with subtle spice notes – ideal on its own, on the rocks or as a base for original summer cocktails.
The base is slow fermentation of molasses on rice yeast. The full physical mixture is divided: half is double distilled in traditional Indonesian pot stills, the other half in modern column stills.
Subsequent maturation takes place in two stages – first in Indonesian teak barrels (a hardwood from Southeast Asia), then in American white oak barrels previously used for bourbon.
The nose reveals citrus notes of clementines, delicately complemented by spices such as cloves, black pepper and nutmeg. The palate is dominated by tropical fruits – kumquat, lime and clementine, intertwined with ginger, nutmeg and lemongrass. The finish is long-lasting with a subtle hint of apple and fresh spices.
The name ‘Naga’ (dragon) refers to Asian mythology and the commercial roots of the region. The production tradition draws on the long history of Batavian arrack, the predecessor of spirits in Indonesia. Malacca, once a key port for the export of exotic spices, gave the rum its characteristic aromatic profile and exotic identity.
The bottles are filled with 40 % alcohol and have a volume of 0,7 l.
