Balvenie 15 Year Old Madeira Cask is a whisky that combines the smoothness of American oak with the richness of Madeira casks. It began maturing in American white oak casks, which imparted notes of vanilla and honey, and was finished in fortified Madeira wine casks, enriching it with fruity sweetness.
The result is a full-bodied, silky smooth whiskey that is bottled at 43 % alcohol content.
The aroma features honey, dried raisins, figs, and dates, complemented by aromas of dried peaches, orange peel, and hazelnuts. The taste is complex and the whiskey is creamy on the tongue. The taste reveals fruity sweetness, peaches, orange peel, black pepper, nuts, oak, honey and caramel.
It is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, to allow the layers of fruit and warm spices to fully develop. To enhance its fruity character, just add a few drops of water. It is ideal as an elegant digestif or a gift for whiskey connoisseurs.
