Talisker Wild Blue
Pronunciation: {Taliskr}This limited edition Talisker The Wild Blue whisky comes from the legendary Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye, founded in 1830 in Carboste. The whisky is first matured in the traditional way, followed by a 16-month finish in red wine casks from the South African Atlantic coast, a first for the Talisker brand.
It is bottled at 48,2 % ABV, with no added colouring or chill filtration.
The nose is dominated by intense smoke mixed with sea tones – dried seaweed, a hint of salt and colourful fruits such as dried cranberries and red wine. The taste is medium to full-bodied and velvety – blackcurrants, figs and pears combined with salty smoke, spice and a subtle ‘chilli catch’ in the middle of the tongue. This is complemented by notes of dates, dried figs and tobacco smoke.
Best served neat at room temperature to allow the layers of fruit, smoke and salt to develop. A few drops of water will help release the wine-fruit notes and enhance the spicy character. This is a whisky that is ideal for slow, meditative enjoyment – a symbol of the connection between the sea, terroir and craftsmanship. A contribution from each sale is also donated to the Blue Marine Foundation for the restoration of coastal habitats (biotopes).
