Set That Boutique-y Whisky Company Black Gate 3 Year + Free Gin Sul
First batch of Black Gate single malt whisky, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! A rich 3-year-old single malt whisky in the continental Australian style, aged in wine casks. Batch 1 is a release of 254 bottles.
The Black Gate distillery is run by husband and wife Brian and Genise Hollingworth. Brian is a former educator, mechanic, and learned the art of distillation from Australian guru Bill Lark. At Black Gate, they produce Single Malt whisky and dark rum. The annual capacity is only 3,000 liters of whisky, making it hard to come by. They released 254 bottles for That Boutique-y, which represents nearly 4% of their annual production! They exclusively use small casks for aging, which have a significant impact on flavor. The dry climate of New South Wales, similar to a desert, causes rapid and aggressive maturation.
Aroma: old, dusty cognac, ruby-red grapes, dark sugar, and burnt caramel

The juniper distillate is created in a small, handcrafted, copper distillation apparatus. All alcoholic vapors must pass through a metal sieve containing herbs.
Cold, clear, and soft water from Lüneburg Heath, Portuguese lemons the size of grapefruits, juniper, fresh rosemary, and the oily resin from the herb cistus (rock rose) make GIN SUL exceptional. A hint of the Portuguese Atlantic coast is filled into typical white clay bottles, which protect the gin from light and heat.
