Aviation Gin is a gin brand that was first produced in Portland, Oregon by founders Christian Krogstad and Ryan Magarian in 2006. It is referred to as "American Dry Gin," meaning its flavor profile is less strongly flavored with juniper than other gins.
The gin is produced by House Spirits Distillery. It is made using seven aromatic ingredients: juniper, lavender, sweet and bitter orange peel, cardamom, coriander, Indian sarsaparilla, and anise seeds. Aviation American Gin is distilled twice and bottled at 42% alcohol content.
Originally, the gin was bottled in a wine bottle with a blue label. The newer bottle resembles a jar and evokes the Art Deco period, featuring a black label and a silver cap.
Interestingly, in 2018, the brand gained a stake from the famous Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, who enjoys showcasing this gin in his films, such as Red Notice and Deadpool.
