Kilchoman 20th Anniversary 18 Year Old Ex-Bourbon
Whisky Kilchoman 20th Anniversary 18 Year Old Ex-Bourbon is a limited edition whisky celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Kilchoman distillery. It represents the pinnacle of the founders' craftsmanship, reflecting a balance between sweetness and smooth peaty smoke. For lovers of smoother, yet deep Islay whiskies, this is a unique collector's item and a celebration of the distillery's 20-year history.
Founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Distillery on the island of Islay is the only ‘farm distillery’ that carries out the entire process, from growing barley at Rockside Farm to bottling.
To mark its 20th anniversary, founder Anthony Wills has selected a series of exceptional casks – 20 casks – that reflect the two distinctive sides of Kilchoman's profile: bourbon and sherry maturation. This 18-year-old edition from ex-bourbon casks (distilled in 2006) is the oldest in the series and was bottled in 2025 at 46 % ABV.
The production process begins with traditional double distillation and continues with maturation exclusively in 2006 bourbon casks. After 18 years of maturation, typical notes of vanilla, caramel, butter and subtle smoke intertwine with sea salt to create an elegant and refined harmony.
Kilchoman is known for its distinctive peaty profile with sea, spicy and fruity notes. This ex-bourbon edition is unique in that it embodies a smoother yet complex style – a combination of sweet vanilla, toasted wood and subtle peaty smoke creates a delicately refreshing yet deep and sophisticated profile typical of Islay whisky.
