Kilchoman 20th Anniversary 18 Year Old Ex-Bourbon
Whisky Kilchoman 20th Anniversary 18 Year Old Ex-Bourbon is from a limited edition for the 20th anniversary of the Kilchoman distillery and represents the pinnacle of the founders' craftsmanship, reflecting a balance between sweetness and smooth peaty smoke. For lovers of finer yet deep Islay whiskies, this is a unique collector's piece and a celebration of the distillery's 20-year history.
The Kilchoman distillery on the Isle of Islay, founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills, is the only "farm distillery" that carries out the entire process – from growing barley on Rockside Farm to bottling.
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, founder Anthony Wills selected a series of exceptional casks – 20 casks – that reflect two distinct sides of the Kilchoman profile: bourbon and sherry maturation. This 18-year-old edition from ex-bourbon casks (distilled in 2006) is the oldest in this series and was bottled in 2025 at a strength of 46% ABV.
The production process begins with traditional double distillation and continues with maturation exclusively in bourbon casks from 2006. After 18 years of aging, typical notes of vanilla, caramel, butter, and gentle smoke intertwine with sea salt, creating an elegant and refined harmony of whisky.
Kilchoman is known for its distinctive peaty profile with maritime, spicy, and fruity notes. This ex-bourbon edition is special in that it embodies a smoother yet complex style – a combination of sweet vanilla, the aroma of toasted wood, and subtle peaty smoke creates a delicately refreshing yet deep and sophisticated profile typical of Islay whisky.
