Island single malt whisky Ledaig Page 1 of 1

Island whisky comes from small Scottish islands scattered around the mainland – such as Skye, Orkney, Mull, Jura, and Arran. Although they are officially part of the Highland region, they create a unique chapter in the story of Scottish single malt whisky.

The union of sea, wind, and peat

Island distilleries draw from the harsh climate and salty sea air, giving the whisky a unique flavor depth. Typical notes include smoke, peat, sea salt, spices, as well as a gentle sweetness and fruitiness. Each bottle reflects the connection between nature and craftsmanship – from wind-swept cliffs to the warmth of oak barrels.

Something between Islay and Highland

Island single malts stand at the crossroads of styles – they have the smokiness and saltiness of Islay whisky, yet a softer structure and sweeter notes typical of the mainland region Highland. Therefore, they are ideal for those seeking a balanced character with an adventurous spark.

How to enjoy them

They shine best neat or with a drop of water, which opens up their smoky-salty character. Island whisky is an experience – they combine the ruggedness of Scottish nature with the elegance of craftsmanship.
