Glendronach 12 Year Old Sherry Cask
Pronunciation: {Glen-Drónach}GlenDronach 12 Year Old is a bold Highland single malt, matured exclusively in Spanish sherry casks of the Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez types, making it a quintessential “sherried” expression.
It is bottled at 43 % ABV, with natural colour, without added colouring, and (in the past) without chill filtration.
On the nose, it reveals dried fruits (raisins, figs), orange peel, caramelized sugar, spices such as cinnamon and clove, a gentle nutty note, and a touch of oak. In the background, there are subtle hints of ginger, roasted nuts, and a creamy undertone.
On the palate, the whisky is full and sweet with a strong sherry influence: fruity notes (raisins, prunes), marzipan, orange marmalade, nougat, vanilla, and gentle spice (ginger, black pepper). The finish is fairly long and well balanced, with echoes of dark chocolate, caramel, nuts, and a spicy touch.
Best enjoyed neat at room temperature – a few drops of water may help open up the fruity and spicy layers, but it should not be overdone in order to preserve its intensity.
